We have listed a few natural preventive measures for acne in our previous post. Natural measures may not cure acne completely and it takes more time to see visible results. If the severity of acne is not reduced even after following certain natural remedies, it is time to go for a medical treatment.
Consulting a dermatologist would be the first right thing to do. He/ She is the right person to diagnose the type of  acne, cause behind it and prescribe a suitable treatment. Treatments can cure acne by means of fighting against bacteria, controlling oil secretion, balancing the hormones and unclogging the pores.

Treatment for acne can be of two types, topical medication and oral medication.
Acne which causes mild inflammation on the skin can be treated using topical medication alone. Such acne fighting topicals may consist benzoyl peroxide, clindamycin, retinoids or salicylic acid etc. which fight against the bacteria and calms down the redness or other skin damage caused.
For severe cystic acne, a combination of oral and topical medicine works the best. Oral medications are generally retinoids or antibiotics.
Even though such treatments are considered the best way to treat acne, one has to make sure that proper consultation is done with a dermatologist before intake or application of any medicine. Proper medication with good lifestyle practices can help to keep acne at bay.
